IP Students Share with City Council

Fourth graders from Indian Peaks Elementary shared their STEM work at last night’s city council meeting.  Several students gave speeches to the Mayor and City Council to inform them of the progress in the Affolter Park Playground Redesign.  Students have collaborated with park officials all year long to conduct surveys, research, and design/redesign structures that fit the needs of the community. 9 students attended the council meeting, with each student either speaking or presenting STEM frames.  They were poised and read well!  Parents also participated by taking pictures.  Students presented flowers to Mrs. Levison and Mrs. Kron in appreciation. Mr. Coombs, Longmont’s mayor, along with Mrs. Levison and Mrs. Kron from the City, presented the framed design of the playground to Indian Peaks students.
