The Reading League, in partnership with the City of Longmont, is part of the Grade-Level Reading Plan. Members of the Longmont community are trained to help young children read at their grade-level.
Students are selected as participants of the program and meet once a week, at school, with a trained reading mentor. Together they work to help improve vocabulary, reading fluency, and comprehension.
Families are very important when a child is learning to read. The Reading League hosts family breakfasts so that families can meet their child's mentor, learn more about literacy, and find out how they can support their child's reading development.
The program is free and children receive free books to read at home.
